Sword info question

by midorinotoradesu

I have a friend who asked me to some research on a sword. He just
purchased it and it's
being shipped from China. My first reaction is that it isn't a
genuine samurai sword but for
the price, it's a decent decoration. I'd appreciate your help. The
photos are in a group folder
labelled "sword info".

Questions I need answered:

1. Is it Japanese?

2. What period?

3. Can anyone discern the sword maker?

Thanks.

Brandon

good afternoon.

Well, I have not seen the pics. But I can tell you
there is a chinese guy whose name is Paul Chen, he is
doing katanas since a while.
Major koshirae are imiting shinto era. He is doing
shin ken and iaitos as well.
Damn, I will like to be able to see that pics...
Just a couple of questions : does that katana has a
comercial name ??? do you know the place that katana
was made ??? Hanwei by any chance ???

Bye

Most certainly not.

Late 20th or early 21st century.

Chung's Swords-R-Us.

Seriously though, cheap Chinese made "replica" swords are a dime a
dozen. I haven't taken a look at the pics, but the quality of these
Chinese swords are infamously bad.

HI

I looked at the pics and its clearly a fake. Its not a
Chen sword.

yu can buy the same style off ebay for any thing from
$30 (USD) / £55 (GBP) top range being about $100

this one is quite plain but a lot of them have some
seriously nasty koshirae
