There are a few good ninja movies and programs, IMO. Here are some of my
favorites (not all entirely historical, but "good" in terms of
entertainment; some funny, some action-packed, some "period dramas"):
Hattori Hanzo - Kage no Gundan (Seasons I through IV), starring "Sonny"
Chiba
Shinobi no Mono - Series of B&W films about a ninja who goes rogue and
wages a war on Nobunaga.
The Owls' Castle, a drama focusing on the rivalry of two childhood
friends who must work against each other - one for the ninja ryu and one
for Nobunaga, IIRC.
Red Shadow - Slapstick anochronistic ninja romp with some wacky bits,
but fun (IMO)
