Edo Food

by jakunenkami

Hi,
Does anybody have any info on authentic Japanese food from the
15th/16th centuries?
I'm one of the cooks for a re-enactment group and I've been tasked
with researching authentic food from the period (I've already got
around 500 European recipes).
Anyone got any data or links?
Many thanx,
Jakunen.

How urgent is this??
I have notes from two lectures, one on Sengoku, one on Tokugawa, but
they're handwritten...

Not that urgent. We have a meet in June I think, and
I've got to attempt any recipes I get to make sure, 1)
it's palatable and 2) I can actually make it!
I've only done a little Japanese cooking, specialising
in Italian, Thai, Chinese and medieval cooking so I
need to practice before I'm prepared to feed anyone.
It's a hard life, but...

Hi there,

I would be interested in Thai, Japanese and especially Chinese
medieval
cooking. Is there a website around somewhere that has info on this
stuff?
Some recipies perhaps?

Matt

Check on the SCA-JapanMailingList (SCA-JML, a Yahoo group). There is a fellow
there (one of my apprentices) who has been working on a translation of a late
16th early 17th c. Japanese cooking manual.

Tony,
I'm really after stuff from a bit earlier than that,
but any recipes would be greatly appreciated.
Rgds,
Martin.
