Horsemanship

by Scott19NY

There are only 2 terms for horsemanhip that I know of. Bajutsu was
the art of horsemanship. I believe it included riding, mounted
archery, using horses in water, and a variety of other skills with
horses. The other term is Yabusame. It is the modern ,competative
(it thik) form of mounted archery in which the participants are to
fire blunted arrows at 3 consecutive targets at a full gallop.

Hi

Kishajutsu is similiar to Yabusame but is the older
form - more along the lines of warfare. It is a term I
know the Kukishin ryu (martial art for the Kuki
family) did use, but they no longer have horsemanship
in there curriculum.

here is a link to the ogasawa ryu who have existed for
a few hundred years now. Page is in Japanese and
english
