That's easy, the correct name for the code of honor
for the samurai is Bushido. I have been reading up on
the Japanese culture, it's very simple to look up. If
I were you, I would go the book store and try to find
a history book on the Japanese History.

Re: [samuraihistory] samurai code of honour

by S. Lyle Parker

Andrea/Francisco,

Although Nitobe's book was considered very important to the burgeoning field
of Japanese studies when it appeared early in the last century, it has been
superseded by MANY outstanding works in English. In fact, as G. Cameron
Hurst pointed out in his article ("Death, Honor, and Loyalty: The Bushido
Ideal"._Philosophy East & West_, 40:4 (October 1990), 511-527), Nitobe knew
little about the concept of bushido. Before reading Nitobe's book,
definitely check out Prof. Hurst's comments.

If you do not have access to the journal, the article is reprinted at the
following URL:

http://ejmas.com/jalt/jaltart_hurst_0501.htm

Cheers,

Shannon
