Minamoto Yoritomo

by andjoysmith

I'm writing a book on how Minamoto Yoritomo became the
Shogun that had set the foundations of other
Shogunates in later years. I just need help on where
to go now from where I began, can you tell me more
about Minamoto Yoritomo, please?

Don't take this wrong, but... um....

You're writing a book on Yoritomo and yet you're asking people whose
veracity and limit of knowledge is untestable to tell you about him? Aren't
you doing research?

And, for the record, it is arguable that Yoritomo had little or nothing to
do with the shogunate as it eventually evolved. The Muromachi shogunate was
the product of Hojo engineering, and was a very different structural and
functional animal from the shogunate of the Tokugawa, for example.

I do agree with Tony, but if you think it's OK with you, here's some search
result for you, Andrea.
http://www.google.co.jp/search?sourceid=navclient&hl=ja&q=%8C%B9%97%8A%92%A9
Note:these results are in Japanese. Some pages may have english version.

Following is just for record:

> The Muromachi shogunate was the product of Hojo engineering,

Muromachi shogunate was by Ashikaga Takauji, 1338.
(I found no english page with picture)

Minamoto Yoritomo started Kamakura shogunate in 1192.

(Portrait of Minamoto Yoritomo)
......Anyway, Hojo took control over Kamakura Shogunate later.

Hello, it's pretty much okay with me because I'm
afraid to getting facts mixed up, I do appreciate the
help and sites. I'll continue some research on this
subject, thank for the help, it helps me a lot.

I can't believe I said "Muromachi" instead of "Kamakura".... sigh.

I have to go commit seppuku now. Please excuse me...

Minamoto Yoritomo

by andjoysmith

I think I have some information on Minamoto Yoritomo, that's when he
started the first shogunate, which was the foundation for other
shogunates, including the Tokugawa shogunate. Historians thought
Minamoto Yoritomo died in battle, but he didn't die in battle, he died
from injuries from a horsing accident in 1199. It would be great for
my book I'm writing, it's that I need to know what Minamoto Yoritomo's
childhood was like, that's all I need for my book.
