Kozamuraishoshi

by William Letham

Does anyone have some info on the term 'kozamuraitokoroshoshi'. Sorry my computer doesn't have kanji but the first syllable is ko as in small, samurai as in samurai and tokoro as in place, shoshi is two characters sho the same as place and shi as in official. This is from the recent taiga drama Hojo Tokimune. Its some kind of rank or post that the young Tokimune is placed in. I have a vague idea that it is some kind of samurai training regimen. Also does anyone know what family Sanuki, the mother of Tokisuke, Tokimunes half brother, came from?

I've heard of a Kosamuraidokoro, an office established in the early Kamakura
Period. The purpose of this body was to regulate and preside over military
affairs pretaining to the bakufu and was headed by a member of the Hojo
house. later, a school for the sons of samurai was established as part of
it.

Thanks for the info. I also found that term Kosamuraidokoro (my Japanese
teacher says the s is phoneticized to a z) Perhaps considering Tokimunes age
about 14 or so at this time in the drama the Kozamuraishoshi had something
to do with the school attached to the Kosamuraidokoro
. Anything about Tokisukes mother Sanuki?
