The interpretation of dreams is a tricky field in its own right, but you could look at in a Freudian ssense if that helps. None of the work Freud, or Jung for that matter, is 'proven' empirical science, but it does help some people.
Had you for example been watching Kurosawa films or reading alot about the topic? In which case it's the brain 'doing the filing'. On the other hand if it really came out of the blue as it were, then it truly is fascinating.
