Hello to everyone, I don´t know about actual samurai. But about the sword, there are no one "best", the best or top sword maker of the history was Masamune, follow by Muramasa, both in different styles, the nihon-to allways as been made of Tamahagane steel (basically), Check to see a photo http://www.maximom.com.ar/index_archivos/MASAMUNE%20y%20MURAMASA.htm

*sigh*

The people saying samurai still exist are just giving
you a hard time. It's called sarcasm. Look into it.

The samurai class was abolished in the early 1870's.
They don't exist by act of law. Someone who was a
samurai in 1870 was no longer a samurai in 1877
because the government of Japan said so. A simple
google search would turn this information up in about
5 seconds.

However, you could also look here--I suggest you do
so, and quickly:

http://www.geocities.com/klancesegall/home.htm

It's required reading before posting on this email
list. And you obviously didn't read it
beforehand--please do so now.

Thanks,

The Mgmt.

Just to be a bit picky, Masamune may popularly and generally be considered
to be the best ever swordsmith and is certainly the most famous, but
Muramasa could not be described as the second best by any stretch of the
imagination and he was not connected to Masamune in any way, his swords just
had a bloodthirsty reputation.

Clive

Samurai was a social rank.
The social rank system don't exist in Japan anymore.
