reserch on warriors and thier hierarchy

hello
my name is Nikolas Smirnov, I am a student from Israel, third year in
the hebrew universite of jerusalem.
And I wondered if someone can help me?
I am making a reserch on the way warriors symbolized their victories
in battles, And the way that the hierarchy was established and
symbolized in ancient civilizations based on the warrior's talent
or\and ability in combat- marks, ranks, symbols ... .
I am interested to find out how in the samurai culture it appears.

actually, what I'm asking for is guidance , please help me by sending
me some links or info you have, on the topic, I will really appreciate
your help.
