Sorry about all the 'extras' at the top of this mail, but I posted it on the Delphi Samurai History Forum, but got no replies, so I thought I'd place it on this board too and just try my luck here.
Thanks

Sorry about the previous post, that didn't work as well as one had planned.
So here I go again.
Regarding medieval Japanese currency, having just read the letters of Valignano concerning the prices of prized tea ceremony items by certain daimyo and court aristocrats, he rather irratically uses terms (regarding prices)from Europe (taels and ducats), but also local currency values such as HIKI, KANMON, and KAN. Can anyone clear up the stratification of later medieval Japanese currency for me as internet, library, and bookshop searches have proved fruitless to date. Thanks
M.Lorimer

There's a book entitled "Everyday Life In Traditional Japan", can't
recall the author, but I'm sure some one on this list will know it. It
has some details on the currency system, but may I suggest these web
pages as a good place to start, I stumbled across them some months ago,
hope they're of use:
Thanks.
I have the book already (by Charles L. Dunn), but it is rather a patchy description of the money used. On the other hand the website may well prove useful on further perusal.
Thanks again
