the 'samurai' films

by paganelfshimmer

greetings everyone!

i was going through this website that i download films from and i came across these 'samurai' films from 'the criterion collection', like: samurai I -musashi miyamoto ( http://us.imdb.com/Title?0047444 ); samurai 2 - duel at ichijoji temple ( http://us.imdb.com/Title?0048579 ); samurai III - duel at ganryu island ( http://us.imdb.com/Title?0049710 ); samurai reincarnation ( http://us.imdb.com/Title?0082699) and samurai champloo ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0423731/ ). the latter two are not from 'the criterion collection' i suppose.

the thing i want to ask is, has anybody seen any of these films and would you recommend them? perhaps not as a learning tool, yet to gain some visual insight into the life of the samurai. thanks in advance...

Samurai Champloo is an anime (cartoon). I've watched the first two
episodes and, well, it didn't really catch my attention all that much.
It is historical, though, so as a learning tool it could be useful.
