war and weather

by Sheldon

In light of the recent heavy snowfall in Japan I got to thinking about
how the weather affected war in medieval Japan. Did the samurai have to
wear warmer clothing? Did battles simply not take place when it snowed?
And what about intense heat? A samurai could get very hot under all that
armor especially after the matchlock was introduced and the armor got
heavier.
I am still new to the world of samurai history so please excuse my
ignorance but I would like to hear what everyone else thinks.

Thanks
Sheldon

In the latetest Rekishi Gunzo edition "Maeda Toshiie", there are some
illustrations of samurai winter gear, snow shoes coats etc.
