Oda Nobunaga's children

by kitsuno

As I was leaving the local japanese bookstore, I noticed a book
called something like 'Nobunaga's 26 children' (in Japanese). I only
had a minute to flip through it, but it looks like Oda Nobunaga had
26 children. I only know about 13--

Nobutada
Nobuo
Tokuhime (wife of Tokugawa Nobuyasu)
Touyama-Bunin [adopted] (Wife of Takeda Katsuyori)
Fuyuhime (Wife of Gamou Ujisato)
Hidekatsu
Katsunaga
Nagatsugu
Nobukatsu
Nobutaka (Died 1602)
Gyokusen-in (Wife of Maeda Toshinaga)
Nobutaka (2 sons named Nobutaka)
Hideko (AKA Nichiei) (Wife of Tsutsui Sadatsugu)

Does anyone know anything about the other 13 children of Nobunaga?

Saigen Nihonshi Vol. 19 page 39 lists 23 children, 11 boys and 12 girls.
Rekishi Gunzo series # 1 page says 24 kids (12 boys and 12 girls) but gives
no names. It also mentions on the following page that Nobunaga himself was
one of 24 children and does list his brothers and sisters). One thing I
have noticed is that some books get confused between real children and
adopted children hence the various numbers. Anyway the children listed in
Saigen Nihonshi not on your list are:

Nobuhide
Nobuyoshi (spelled 信吉)
Nobusada
Nobuyoshi (spelled 信好)
Nagatsugu

the list goes on with several 'onna'
married to Takigawa Kazumasa
m. Niwa Nagashige
m. Hideyoshi
m. Mizuno Tadatane
m. Kanpaku Nijo Akizane
m. Madenokouji Mitsufusa
m. Tokudaiji Sanefuyu
m. Takeda Shingen
