Hello all...
You can call this a 'feeler' message if ya like..Which era do you consider
the most exemplary Samurai era? Myself, I believe that it takes a lot to
beat
the Genji-Heike wars of the 12th century, but I would like to see where you
all stand on this issue..wether you feel the Sengoku Jidai raised Samurai
status or lowered it..ignore this question if youve all already had this
debate..Sumimasen..like I said just a 'feeler'.

Hi Ben

Hi Ben -

My personal favourite is the Sengoku Jidai - whilst this era saw the
samurai ethos reach its lowest ebb, it also saw the emergence
and development of some of the foremost martial ryu and also
some of the most 'colourful' names in samurai history.

My personal interest is also in the Genji War 1180-85 as well, but I'd say
the majority of subscribers on this mailing list have their interest in the
post Kamakura era.

Good point, and I agree with you. They did raise alot
of spirits within the samurai.
