Takagi Ryu - Date Masamune

by umaryu

Hi All

I am in the Bujinkan Dojo and part of our study is the
Hon tai Takagi Yoshin Ryu (related to Hon Tai Yoshin
Ryu and Takagi Ryu and others)

while looking at a site postede today about Date
Masamune http://www3.ocn.ne.jp/~date/ I noticed that
a sword (Budo) teacher to Date was a man named
Katakura Kagetsuna.

In the origins of Takagi Yoshin Ryu the teacher of the
founder Takagi Oriuemon was Ito Kii no Sukesada. Ito
himself was a student of Katakura Kojuro - Note the
same surname katakura. To make the connection even
closer is Katakura Kojuro was a samurai from oshu.
Takagi himself was from Tohoku Shiraishi in Oshu. all
of this is taking place 1600 - 1625 - present. Kojuro
was possibly the aimyo of the Tohoku Shirashi domain.

Date Masamune and Katakura Kagatsune were also from
Oshu.

So now heres my questions

As the time period for the katakura conncted to Takagi
is the same as that conected with Date Masamune, does
anyone know if Katakura Kojuro and Kagetsune are
related.

Or - where could I go to find out.

any and all help as always much appreciated
