Perennial OOB Question

by thomas5403

Impossible question, I know, but . . .

Can anyone give me a steer on Order of Battle or even numbers for the
battles between Matsudaira/Imagawa/Oda around the 1550s?

I'm trying to figure out how many men the Matsudaira could field in
the days of Hirotada and Ieyasu's youth against the Oda, both in
battle and in the (I assume) 'raiding' that might have taken place on
the borders of Mikawa and Owari.

I'd guess at a couple of thousand for the Matsudaira? Would this
include contingents from Honda and Sakai? And what were their
names? (No, I'm kidding).

Any help appreciated,

Thomas

Rekishi gunzo series # 11, Tokugawa Ieyasu has some info about the early
battles on. Mostly its a brief history of the Matsudaira clan, Ieyasu's
early battles before Okehazama, and the condition Mikawa Bushi. Some maps
and charts but no specific order of battle. Also its all in Japanese.

It sounds like something I would check out myself, I
actually would like to travel to Japan to learn more
about their history and their language.

Try getting your information from two history book
written by people who study Japanese history for a
living, it is not that easy no matter how many times
you read the books.
