by secretarytocapt3

[movie]
Michael from http://www.ninjadojo.com mentioned this film
JITSUROKU SHINSENGUMI
http://www.twitchfilm.net/archives/004613.html
scroll down to get link to trailer

****yes, the film has many Shinsengumi captains including Saitou
HOWEVER, the casting is really really really bad---Okita however was
ok ::sigh of relief there::

[book]
by Ken Yamaguchi
Kinsé shiriaku: A history of Japan, from the first visit of Commodore
Perry in 1853 to the capture of Hakodate by the Mikado's forces in 1869
Unknown Binding: 178 pages
Publisher: Scholarly Resources; Rev. ed edition (January 1, 1973)
Language: English
ISBN: 084201411X

{{{OUT OF PRINT}}}

what makes this book great?
1) it is short
2) Gregorian Calendar dates right there in the brackets next to lunar
calendar dates
3) annoying use of "rebel" "loyal" "wicked" troop labels
and "chastisement of Aizu" (nearly wiping the domain off the map is
just a slap on the wrist) (*_*)
::LOL:: but it beats the "propensity to kill" anyday (Sec promises to
stop making fun of Mr. Hillsborough now...hehehehe)
4) very comprehensive!!! Choshu, Satsuma people really ought to take
a look at this book...

I had to split up this book into each volume according to years

****HIJIKATA IS IN THIS LAST SECTION AS HIJIKATA SAIZO or "REBEL
LEADER HIJIKATA" look around page 157 (but he may be mentioned earlier
I don't have time to read---he is killed on 173)

Introducing: Ask Yukiko!

by shimazuryu

Hi everyone!

I'm roleplaying as Saitou Hajime's niece Yamaguchi Yukiko in a Livejournal
RPG-- http://community.livejournal.com/meiji_restored/ , and I just wanted
to let you all know that for non-RPG entries in Yukiko's journal--
http://yamaguchiyukiko.livejournal.com -- I will be regularly posting
interesting historical tidbits, bios, and so on.

BUT-- Yukiko wants to hear from YOU!

So-- in any of the entries titled "Yuki's History Lesson"-- feel free to
stop by and comment! I have four entries up so far:

1. The Aizu army structure
2. Bio of Matsudaira Katamori, the lord of Aizu
3. Bio of Kijima Matabei, a senior Choshu figure
4. Bio of KAWAKAMI GENSAI-- the character basis of KENSHIN

BUT, I will have more soon!

Any questions-- any at all-- are welcomed and encouraged! Don't worry, I'm
trying my best to make it simple and understandable...and yes, I DO have
pictures, too-- some historical, some from manga. Also, if you have any
requests about what you want to see, don't hesitate to email me!

Again, Yukiko is waiting to hear from you!

-M.
