Shinsengummies?

by nakkinomiko12

Okay, this is totally silly, but my husband and I were chatting about the fact that they'll make *anything* into gummy candy these days, and then he came up with a completely evil idea: Shinsengummies. (For the record, I thwapped him upside the head for this.)

Anyway, if there really were Shinsengummy candy, what flavor would Saitou be?

I laughed when I read this because there's a fic on ff.net that has
Hijikata of all people hawking Shinsengumi related merchandise and one
of those things is---Shinsengummies! I believe they were sake flavored.
*smirk*

I think Saitou would be Soba flavored!

Okita--lollipop cherry

Hijikata----black licorice or sour apple

Yamanami--something bland like oatmeal

Kondou---something equally bland---overcooked unflavored rice

I'm not sure on the others

Honestly, I was thinking in the terms of something slightly more citrus flavored... You know, he is so acidic (at least the RK incarnation)... (I left the rest of the citrus associations to your imagination) mwahahahahahaha!!!!

Re: Shinsengummies?

Wow, I just imagined how they would look like, it would have the
signature jagged edge design...each package filled with
multicolored/flavored Shinsengummies, with complimentary temporary
makoto tattoos, and a contest to vote for the next Shinsengummy color
for Nagakura.

PMK Saitou...since soba flavor may be a bit hard to replicate, I'd
settle for seaweed flavor

gummy RK Saitou would be an attractive neon blue color and therein
lies the trap...it would be Tylenol flavored

Hijikata DEFINATELY black licorice

Kenshin...wild cherry

Blonde Ninja girl...bubblegum

Tatsu...salty (for all those tears he cries)

Okita...watermelon

Shishio...crunchy charcoal

Shinsengumi fic on ff.net Database

by secretarytocapt3

-gasp- I scan ff.net nearly every night after I do my homework for
Shinsengumi, Saitou&Tokio, or Aoshi (when I'm feeling meditative)
fiction...I missed this one...I started a Database of all ff.net
Shinsengumi related stories.

Miss Behaving pointed me to it I can't remember the title but it's about
Saitou's birthday and Okita (who is still alive) throws him a birthday
party--Aoshi and Hijikata give each other many "Dark and mysterious
glares" LOL

Re: Shinsengumi fic on ff.net Database

Way cool, Tiffany! Wonder if there's a way to get it to create links
for the location ID so all one would have to do is click on it and
PRESTO (assuming ff.net isn't down at the time). Probably not
just 'cause that would be too efficient. :-) I assume you were
hoping it would create links when you created the table? (Looks like
it since you have the full URL for them.)

Just out of curiosity, what criteria did you use for including a
story in the database? There must be hundreds (over a thousand?)
that involve Saitou. Is it only when the story involves the
revolutionary time period or other members of the Shinsengumi?
(uh... I think what I'm trying to get at is "Saitou other than just a
Meiji cop"?)

You should post a message over on SHQSD for newcomers to bump into if
they read past messages so they'll know it's there. I think so far
most people on SHQSD are on this list, too (which I'm really glad
of), but there are always exceptions.

Thanks for starting it up!
phil

Re: Shinsengumi fic on ff.net Database

by secretarytocapt3

hmmm...I don't think it allows for html...anyways we should start
something similar for the shinsengumihq.com seeing how its commanders
have written some of the best fics. I have read probably one hundred
stories...I chose some of the more popular ones and I'll add more when
time permits...I have to search Saito, Saitou, Saitoh, Fujita
Goro/Gorou, Shinsengumi etc yep there are too many and plenty of guest
appearances of S.H. in Aoshi stories too. I think the database can
encompass Meiji Era as well because many "flashback" to the days of
the revolution.

yeah, just in case there are some tech. difficulties atleast people
will see the root address.

I put the link in for the main index and folks can get to individual
stories in the category of their choice from there

The name of that story was Rurouni Bishonen: Saitou's 34th Birthday by Midori-chan. The link is:
http://www.fanfiction.net/read.php?storyid=1254492

I've put it up in the database also. Oh, and for the record, only Hijikata was sake flavored. Saito was bumbleberry flavored.

I have this one up in the database too, but I'm going to sing its praises here. Nigihayami Haruko wrote a few poems dedicated to the Shinsengumi called To the Forgotten Dreams.
http://www.fanfiction.net/read.php?storyid=1604085
I hope all of you will take a peak at least.

Hi everyone!

by maryannsfanfic

Hi!

I know that so far Ive been quite an inactive member, but yes, I did enjoy those first few days among you. I think that the two ML and the website are very nice ideas and that theyll certainly help us, Shinsengumi fans, to easily access tons of information. Im amaze by how fast everything is getting organised and I really appreciate reading all of those posts, even if sometimes, I wonder how Im going to find the time to read them all. The ML have been quite busy, but thats not a bad thing at all. (^-^)

If I can, Ill try, in the future, to add my little contribution. But Im probably not as often on the Internet as some of you

Tiffany Thanks for putting my fics in the database: it is very appreciated. (^-^)

See you,
Mary-Ann
