Mnemonic Device for remembering names + old scan

by secretarytocapt3

[this is a duplicate post from http://www.shinsengumimb.com]
memory aid for people who do not know Japanese
http://1happyturtle.com/makoto/mnemonic1.jpg
*I will try to work on mnemonics for Hijikata and Okita's names

I found this pic after spending a REALLY long time searching my
computer...I scanned this a long time ago but the image was housed on
the now dead miburo yahoo groups (it has been uploaded to our "Photos"
section)
http://1happyturtle.com/makoto/SHclothes.jpg
*if anyone knows what the text beneath the image says please share

Lastly, I have asked a couple of members here already via AIM to try
to figure out what they think this object is...can you guess? (^_^)
it does look like a jar or something?

It's a French shirt of some sort that he wore in the Seinan-- the same shirt
he had on when he met Sano in RK.

It's right next to the tsuba, so it might be a teacup....

Ummm... I can only read the kanji below the shirt... so it's really rough & incomplete translation >.<
It basically says:
Ancient brave/risk ... spy/secret use ... soldier uniform. top bottom ... (........made). West south war times [some guy's name... translates to Sai (as in Saitoh) Field (that one character in Okita) Five ... (I think the last character is like...gentleman or something, I dunno what it is in English)] and/together ... wear ...... ....... (bottom) ... black color wild sleeve style. <--no idea what that's supposed to mean >.<
Uhh, if u could get ANYTHING from that... rofl, i truly respect ur skills... XD XD XD

Thank you to those who have attempted to translate the caption beneath
the shirt. Our member, [Tama], provided a clarification saying that
it is in fact Koga TAnji's shirt. Koga was a friend of Fujita Goro in
the TMPD where they both worked as spies. Fujita Goro would have worn
a similar shirt and nobekama (not sure about the spelling).

now the question is why would a spy "uniform" exist *_* wouldn't that
be dangerous? ^_^

I think that the uniform's more like a general style of black shirts that spies wear...not an actual, official, uniform , which would totally defeat the purpose of being/having spies...rofl...it's more for camouflage, i would think ^^, than to be identified as a spy when they wear it.
