OT: Bushido Of The 47 Samurai (Prints+Info)

by secretarytocapt3

Remember the 47 Ronin? The samurai the Shinsengumi held in high
esteem and either un/intentionally imitated. Well here is a really
cool and probably really expensive book that is in production:

Bushido Of The 47 Samurai,
by Ichiyusai Kuniyoshi
Translation by:
Toshishiro Obata and Panchita Hawley
260 pages, 8.5 x 11 softcover.
ISBN: 0-910704-87-2

The pic below makes me think of the episode of Shinsengumi vs Sumo

***Did sumo fight with weapons?***
---------------------
It would be sooo cool if there were color prints of the Shinsengumi
just like the 47 ronin...it is obvious that sometimes Nobori Nakajima
didn't have that much time for the paintings of his
comrades...especially the ones with younger Shinsengumi wearing
western clothing...

The Shinsengumi overcoat's pattern (and that of the flag) is also
inspired by the 47 Ronin. Kondou's overcoat is an inverted version of
it, actually-- white with black triangles, as opposed to vice-versa.
